For those of you who missed the previous posts on this build, I have included the links below so you can be up to date with what’s going on.
Shabba’s AE86 Build…Introduction
Now that you’re all caught up- here is part 2 which, from the looks of things, has made quite some progress from where we left off in part 1. Today we’ll be taking a look at the next stage of progress with this build. Due to the state the body was in, some fabrication work had to be done to the trunk area where the fuel cell, swirl pot and some other stuff will be going. We also take a closer look at the cage work that was done and the beginning of the test fitting of the engine and gearbox, so Shabba can get the custom tunnelling sorted. So with that said, on with the shots…
Some better shots of the cage as it sits in place…
Due to the deterioration of the body, Shabba had to cut away the trunk floor and replace it…
Everything welded in place with a few minor adjustments to be made…
Here you get a better view of the cage and also the gearbox being test fitted…
With the gearbox fitted in place, measurements will be taken so the new tunnel can be fabricated…
Random shot of the trunk and new roof skin fitted…
More custom work being done, this time on the back fenders…
As you guys can see here a large area of the firewall has to be rebuilt in order to run this engine and gearbox setup…
We’re going to leave you with guys a closer view of the power plant Shabba will be using…
That’s it for today’s post, stay tuned our next installment in the series… where we’ll be talking a little about the engine setup…
