Track Bred EG6 Build… Part 13

Today we’ll be continuing from the last update where Jerry was in the process of shedding some weight and strengthening the chassis of the car.  At this point in time there isn’t anything else to going on, below are some more photos of the process.

For those who are seeing this post for the first time and would like to follow it from the beginning, I have provided the link below…

Track Bred EG6 Build…

Picking up from where we left off…

Where’d the floor go??….

Jerry as he takes some measurements for the gussets…

A better view of what is to be the floor, as it’s starting to take form with the most of the bars in place….

A view of the back, where you guys can see the first gusset welded in place….

A look at the roof where some of the unnecessary piping was removed to shed some weight…

Close up of the welding work that was done…

Work in progress, as Jerry shaves down a piece of pipe in order to get it to fit as snug as possible before it is welded in place…

If you guys can remember the previous setup, this is where the floor slanted and just in front of it was the fuel cell, but with the redesigned floor, Jerry had to ditch the old fuel setup because of available space. As the build progresses we will touch on this a little more to give you a better understanding.

Reinforcement done to the back of the car…

Gussets in place and ready to be welded…

And it begins…

Really love these shots of the welder at work…

After the gussets are welded in place, the welds need to be sanded smooth the give the look as though it is one solid piece…

Here you can get an idea of what i’m talking about, so far everything seems to be coming together pretty good and also ahead of schedule. That’s it for today, stay tuned for the upcoming updates to follow.
