Track Bred EG6 Build… Part 9
In the last update the car was more or less complete and ready to hit the track for some testing with the race meet approaching rapidly. Jerry was able to make it out to the track to do a bit of testing, working hard trying to get the suspension dialed in as much as possible and also working on fine tuning the engine. Unfortunately he didn’t get in as much seat time as he would like but all in all it went pretty good. A few photos were taken while at the track, which I’ve provided below.

As mentioned earlier the testing went well for the time Jerry had allotted to him. All that was left now was to hope everything goes well on the actual race day.

Here is a little recap of the day for you guys starting with the first race; Jerry used to first race of the day to feel out the car and to get comfortable with not only the track conditions but also with the presence of other competitors. The race went pretty well and he was able to finish 2nd. After a podium finish in the first, Jerry had great confidence going into the 2nd race and was able to better the results and finished at the top of the podium. During the two previous races, the tires were rubbing against the wheel wells pretty bad and over time caused them to deteriorate at a rapid rate. Another challenge Jerry was faced with is the suspension started to get loose caused by heavy vibrations which threw off the geometry of the car. Due to these unfortunate mishaps he wasn’t able to complete the 3rd race.
All in all the day was a learning experience as to what stage in development the car is at. Jerry was quite amazed with the performance he got out of the car especially with very little seat time and not being able to get the suspension dialed in properly. His fastest time for the day was 45.2secs, which was another big achievement for him as he was expecting to hopefully do mid to high 46s, so this coupled with actually taking home a win was more than enough to ask for. With the experience gained, the plan from here is to correct the minor issues he had throughout the day and hopefully he’ll be able to improve his times come next the race meet. Track Bred EG6 Build… Part 8
Today’s update is yet another exciting one. In the last update there was still some minor stuff that needed to be taken care of and since then, its safe to say that the car is finally complete and ready to hit the track. The panels are back from paint and in my opinion it looks even better than before. Also, the wiring is finally complete and best of all, the K Series motor has been fired up…

As I have mentioned in previous posts, the wheel wells needed to be cut and redesigned in order to accommodate the large wheels. Here is a view from the inside.

Now that the final height has been determined, the wing will be removed once again and the brackets painted in flat black.
The body panels are finally back and installed…
Jerry swapped out the Integra Type S axles for Driveshaft Shop’s 2.9 axles just to be on the safe side.
It was a long hard day, but it was well worth it with the progress that was made.
The doors, hood and bumper still need to be installed but it was a lot easier to work without them, and Jerry didn’t want them to be damaged before the car makes its debut at the track.

It’s been a long journey with this build, I hope you guys enjoyed it. From here the next step for Jerry is to get the motor mapped to suit the track and then head out to get the suspension dialed in before race day.
