Shabba’s AE86 Build…Part 1

Let me first start off by saying Happy New Year to everyone. We hope 2013 brings you all good health and added success, we also hope that all those newly made resolutions make it past January…haha.

For those of you who missed the first post on this build, I have included a link below so you can be up to date with what’s going on.

Shabba’s AE86 Build…Introduction

Today we’ll be picking up where we left off with the Shabba AE86 Build. I know you guys probably were checking for this update for some time now, but truthfully so much has been going on in the automotive world, we’ve been keeping busy. With that said, in the upcoming weeks we are going to have some really good content for you guys to check out.

Shabba is an old school kind of guy so it really wasn’t a surprise to anyone that he was building yet again another AE86, it was really how soon was he going to start. The process has been started and by no means has it been anything short of a high quality build.

The last time we were here we left you with some shots of the car during the strip down phase which revealed that the body was in a pretty rough state. In the next few photos you guys would really see what I mean by that…

As the car sits with everything stripped off including the roof…

Closer view of the roof removed, really showing how much work this body really needs…

Rear quarter panel being prepared for body work…

The remaining rusted trunk area which will have to undergo some surgery…

Shots after the irreparable rusted panels were removed…

Well made progress of the roof and floor after being repaired and painted…

Safety was of grave importance with this build so it was no question about if a roll cage was to be installed.

View of the cage after being welded into place…

Leaving you guys with the shot of the engine bay after being cleaned and primed. Stay tuned for our next update where we will get into the engine and suspension setup Shabba will be using…

Independence Day Double Header…TLB & JDM²…

Seasons greetings to all! Hope you all had a great Christmas, and for the gearheads out there I hope there were plenty shiny new parts waiting under the tree.

With that out of the way, let’s get on with today’s post.

We’ll be looking at some photos from Toyota Limers Barbados‘s “Show It Off” Meet and JDMSquared‘s “Street Certified” Meet. Both events were held on the same day at two different locations. We decided to post the all the photos together because they aren’t enough to be done separately due to the fact that we really went to show support rather than cover the events, so these are just some random shots we took throughout the day.

Both events had a good turnout even though the times overlapped, but this didn’t stop us from making it to both. Needless to say we enjoyed ourselves and we’re looking forward to the next one either of them has.

Now to stop boring you guys with any more idle banter… On with the photos!!!

Runx ass… four the hard way!

Simply put… the sticker says it all…

That brings us to the end of the Show It Off meet. Big shout outs to the Toyota Limers Barbados once again, we’re going to leave you with this shot of part of the crew…

From TLB’s Show It Off we made our way down to the JDMSquared Street Certified meet.

Shout outs to the guys over at JDMSquared! This was their first meet and from the attendance and feedback it was nothing short of a success. We really enjoyed the feel of this meet; just a couple of die hard enthusiasts kicking back and having a good time.

Moving on with the photos we snapped while we were there…

This DC2 conversion was among the favourites on the day…

SiR Civic with Mugen front lip…

This Mazda Familia was one of our favourites at the meet simply due to the time taken by the owner to pay attention to the most minute details…

DC5 Integra…

EK9 with a colour theme similar to that of Spoon’s EK9…

A glimpse of some of the cars that came out…

FD2 Civic rolling right into position…

White on white Evo IV…

Not very often do we get a chance to see a Nissan Cefiro…

One of a kind 4 door Nissan Skyline with some aggressive wheel fitment…

Slammed Toyota Altezza…

Another shot of the Evo IV…

A pair of Altezzas…take your pick…

Toyota Altezzas were definitely out in their numbers…

Three’s company…

A pair of Evos…

We had to take a walk around to capture that sweet Evo ass…

Hands down this had to be one of the best looking Subarus at the meet…

Well that’s it for TLB & JDM² Independence Day meets, we’ll leave you guys with a shot of this immaculately restored chameleon Diahatsu Charade G11…
